Fast freight was what our P42s were initially bought for, and P42DC 302 continues the tradition today heading MSVR I-FFSBERJBH. Power for today is ES44ACs 700 and 702, with 302 heading the train. A morning thunderstorm has subsided to a shower, but the rails are still slippery, and with such a long train, the decision was made to place ES44AC 702 as a DPU. Both GEs smoking as they are throttled up to attain road speed. 702 working equally hard on the rear. Passing the Thomas Canyon junction. Passing under the Thomas Canyon Branch. Taking the siding. Crossing the Fairfax River bridge.
